Overview About Braintree
Braintree Laboratories is a privately held pharmaceutical company that was founded in 1982 in Braintree, Massachusetts. Braintree currently has 4 gastrointestinal lavages available in the US market.
Braintree Laboratories pioneered the first gastrointestinal lavage in 1984 with the introduction of GoLYTELY® (PEG-3350 and electrolytes for oral solution). GoLYTELY is indicated for bowel cleansing prior to colonoscopy and barium enema x-ray examination. GoLYTELY was the first to market with this innovative bowel prep technology and was soon adopted as a standard prepping procedure.
The 1990's ushered in a new generation of gastrointestinal lavages. NuLYTELY® (PEG-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution), a reformulation of the original GoLYTELY, provided patients with an improved taste and a 52% less sodium alternative to the other lavages on the market. NuLYTELY is available with flavor packs in cherry, lemon-lime, orange and pineapple.
1999- Braintree Laboratories introduced MiraLAX® (Polyethylene Glycol 3350, NF Powder for Solution), the first new prescription laxative in 23 years. In 2006, MiraLAX was approved by the U.S. FDA as an over-the-counter and marketed Merck, Inc.1
2004- HalfLytely® and Bisacodyl Tablet Bowel Prep Kit (PEG-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution and bisacodyl delayed-release tablet), the first low volume GI lavage, was approved for use. The HalfLytely and Bisacodyl Tablet Bowel Prep Kit enables patients to ingest half the volume of solution traditionally required, significantly reducing bowel-prep related discomfort. Note: This product has been discontinued.
2010- Braintree Laboratories introduced SUPREP® Bowel Prep Kit (sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate) Oral Solution. The SUPREP Bowel Prep Kit is an effective, low-volume prep with a split-dose regimen. SUPREP does not contain sodium phosphate a type of salt that has been linked to kidney failure in some patients.
2013- Braintree Laboratories introduced Suclear® (sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate and magnesium sulfate oral solution; PEG-3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution). Suclear provides the flexibility and convenience of two dosing regimens (same-day, split-dose).
Braintree Laboratories is a fully integrated pharmaceutical company maintaining its own manufacturing facilities, warehousing operations, sales and marketing divisions and a pioneering research and development team.
